Heel PainThis is a common problem, where weight bearing on the heel causes pain and discomfort. The main course of treatment is to reduce inflammation by cushioning and resting the area. Plantar fasciitis can be a prime cause of heel pain very often combined with a heel spur. Inflammation is caused at the heel by the pulling of the plantar fascia where it is attached to the heel bone (calcaneum). Heel pain can be treated sucessfully using heel pads, Fresil blue dot heel cup, Orthaheel gel pain reliever or Tuli's heel cup together with rest. Chiropody felt or Prolyne Technogel pressure pads can often be used as a temporary dressing. If self treatment is not successful seek the advice of a Podiatrist (Chiropodist).
